Care and Troublshooting Insert for CE4 and CE4+

Highly acidic, citrus, cinnamon-based eJuices may increase chance of certain plastics cracking/fogging. When in doubt, test a small area of plastic by exposing it to juice for a period before filling. We do not replace equipment damaged from eJuice reaction.

To Fill: Remove drip tip. Tilt CE4 sideways, drip liquid down side until just under top line. Replace tip. Turn & roll to distribute along entire lengths of wick.

To Clean: Remove silicone cap from internal metal tube. Use jewelers screwdriver/similar tool to GENTLY scrap/dislodge buildup around coil. Rinse all parts well in hot water, allow to dry thoroughly. For best results, soak CE4 in PGA (NOT rubbing alcohol) several hours or overnight, shaking occasionally to dislodge material, then rinse well, let dry. Some plastic/silicone parts start to react to PGA after a period, so check often until you learn how your particular equipment reacts. Some CE4s have a removable tube making cleaning easier. If they do, gently rocking the tube back & forth should remove it from the base.

Poor Wicking: If CE4 wicks poorly, tilt several times to soak the wicks. This should be done periodically during use. If problem continues:

  1. Check if drip tip is pushing silicone cap too far down.
  2. Pull silicone cap up slightly for better flow.
  3. Remove loose feeder wick under silicone cap (if applicable)
  4. Remove cap, use sharp scissors to increase notch size.
  5. For CE4s with long wicks – cut about 2/3 the length from each side of wick.
  6. Check if coil is wound/spaced too tight around wick. Loosening/spreading a tight coil can be difficult, but it is doable.

Excessive leakage can occur when:

  1. CE4 (or coil head, if CE4+ V2) is spent and needs replacing
  2. Overtightening
  3. Ill-fitting drip tip
  4. Allowing CE4 to remain upside down
  5. Exposed to extreme heat for extended periods
  6. Hairline cracks are present
  7. O-Ring has been damaged

NOTE: Repeated heating along with repeated removal/insertion of some drip tips with thicker o-rings can stress the plastic at the top band, leading to a possible break. To minimize stress, always insert & remove drip tips with a gentle twisting & push (or pull) motion to avoid creating suction. If your drip tip seems to fit too tightly, change drip tips or fit drip tip with a thinner o-ring.

Assembling and Troubleshooting eGo-C Atomizer

First, always blow any existing fluid out of new atomizers, then prime atomizer bridge with a drop or two of eJuice.

Fill cartridges using a syringe or by removing the plug at the bottom of the tank cartridge and dripping ejuice into the cartridge (and remember to replace plug after filling). To allow airflow and to avoid possible leaking or backflow of ejuice in your mouth, do not fill cartridge entirely to the edge of the plug.

Align the cartridge in the atomizer as shown right. Make sure the cartridge is firmly seated in atomizer. There should be no gap between the edge of the atomizer and ridge of cartridge.

Make certain to regularly check the plug at the end of the tank cartridge. Over time, the hole becomes bigger, reducing the effectivness of the seal (and thus airflow) and causing leakage. Replace cartridge (or plug) at first signs of wear to prevent leakage and possible battery damage.

Proper alignment eGo-C cartridge

On occasion, wicking issues may occur if the hole pierced in the cartridge plug is too small, or if the plastic “chad” obstructs flow. Use the end of a paperclip to gently and minimally enlarge the hole, or use tweezers to remove the chad.

To Change Atomizer Heads: unscrew cone & remove head, place new head in base, screw cone back on to secure. Tight is better for a good connection! This will not damage battery or atomizer.

Your eCig Battery Lights, But It Doesn’t Work (or Doesn’t Charge)…

Over-tightening or atomizers with protruding connection posts can push the connection post on battery down very slightly – but this is often enough to cause a loss of connection between the atomizer and the battery, or the charger and the battery.

Watch this video to see how you can resolve this common occurrence:

Assembling the eGo-W

Read accompanying materials and become familiar with your eGo-W. Understand how it works and identify all parts. eGo-W Parts
For easier handling, screw clearomizer or assembly onto your  battery. eGo-W assembly
If starting with an assembly, remove cover & mouthpiece from shell. eGo-W
Remove shell by pulling in direction indicated (shell is not screwed on). eGo-W assembly
After filling syringe/injector bottle (included w/kits) with eJuice, fill clearomizer by gently inserting syringe/injector bottle tip in small side hole at top edge of clearomizer plug. DO NOT fill through center. Fill hole may need piercing.  If using blunt tip syringe, be careful not to dislodge bits of rubber from plug (piercing with sharp needle first helps). Fill slowly, leaving about 1/16″ air space. Filling the eGo-W
Airflow is essential to proper wicking. Align shell viewing window with clearomizer air vents for maximum airflow. Replace shell by sliding back over clearomizer. For better performance, allow newly-filled clearomizer to sit at least 20-30 minutes before using. Optimum is overnight. eGo-W Wicking
Occasionally the inner plug can be positioned in a manner that compresses or restricts the wicks, thus interfering with proper wicking.  Using a small jeweler’s type flathead screwdriver, gently coax the plug up, allowing wicks to breath. Take care not to tear silicone or damage the coil, and make sure a seal is maintained on top of the ceramic tubing housing the coil.

Using Your e-Cig Kit: Batteries, Atomizers & Chargers

This is a brief primer we are now sending with all new orders. We’ve had several requests to post the original document online, so here it is!

ejuicemonkeys.com

Congratulations on your eJuiceMonkeys purchase!

The following information will help you set up and begin using your new kit, and provide valuable knowledge essential for a successful vaping experience.

Please read these instructions carefully and retain for future reference. Your e-cigarette is an electronic device and certain precautions must be taken to prevent damage. eJuiceMonkeys will not be responsible for damage or replacements if these guidelines are not followed.

Before starting, make sure you can properly identify all parts. Models and packages may vary, but most kits include: 2 batteries, 1 or 2 atomizers, 1 USB charger, AC wall adapter, and cartridges. Please check the web site for your kit’s product page if you have any questions about what is included with it. Additional, important information which you should know may also be listed on the product page. Please understand this information before proceeding.

Using Your Batteries & Charger:

Many batteries now feature a rapid click on/off safety feature. Three or five rapid clicks (models vary) turns the battery on, same action turns it off. Your batteries will probably arrive in the OFF mode. It is not necessary to repeat this for normal use, but it is advisable to turn batteries off for storage or if they will be placed in an area where the button may accidentally be activated (a purse or pocket).

e-Cigarette batteries are typically shipped from the manufacturer with a partial charge. While you can begin using one immediately, you should place the other one on the charger to fully charge. To charge batteries, plug the USB charger from your kit into a 2.0 USB slot (modern computers have 2.0 USB ports) or into the AC wall adapter (adapter must be plugged into an electrical outlet). AC charging is typically faster and doesn’t draw power away from your computer.

Please note that eJuiceMonkeys will not be liable for any damage caused by the drain of an e-cigarette battery on older computer circuitry. Please be aware that while generally safe, the chemistry of an e-cigarette battery is lithium-ion (aka li-ion), and like all batteries they can occasionally pose some risk. NEVER leave a charging battery unattended. Li-ion batteries may not be disposed of in standard household waste. Please mark your used batteries “Li-ion Batt” and properly dispose of used batteries in accordance with your community’s regulations.

IMPORTANT: After plugging in the USB charger, screw the battery into the charger’s receptacle ONLY until the USB light turns red. Over-tightening can damage the battery, charger, or both. The most common damage caused by over-tightening is to the center connection posts which can become pushed in or displaced. This may result in loss of power connection, internal wiring or circuitry damage, or damage the silicon gasket surrounding the battery post. A damaged gasket may allow eJuice to enter internal electronics, shorting or corroding them.

Because eJuice may leak onto battery threads during regular use, battery and chargers threads need to be cleaned regularly. Juice-covered threads can interfere with charging and damage the charger or battery. Be aware that a damaged charger can also ruin batteries. Wipe threads with pure grain or 91% rubbing alcohol and wipe or air dry. These alcohols have a very low water content, dry quickly, and are recommended for electronics.

Once the USB charger light turns green (AC wall adapter light always remains red), battery is fully charged and can be removed. Charging times vary depending on battery size. A 510 battery may take only an hour or two; higher capacity eGos may take 5 to 6 hours. Charging time and length of time between charges also depend on vaping habits and other equipment used (low resistant atomizers/cartomizer, for example, will drain batteries faster).

Li-on batteries have no charging memory, but perform much better when not continually fully discharged. When batteries are weak, you will notice a reduction of vapor, flavor, and performance. Your battery will begin flashing when it reaches a level where it can no longer provide the volts needed for proper functioning. Do not attempt to get one or two more draws, as you can damage the battery. Place on the charger and allow a full charge cycle to complete.

IMPORTANT: Extra care must be used with batteries having silicon or rubber buttons (510s, Riva styles). When placed snuggly in lanyards, pockets, purses, etc.,(or on close contact with other materials) it’s possible friction may cause the rubberized texture of these buttons to “catch” or “stick” to other materials, possibly pulling the button out of the battery casing when removed. It is highly unlikely buttons will separate from casing with normal use and reasonable care.

Using Your Atomizer & Cartridges:

Please see insert regarding proper filling, insertion of cartridges into your atomizer. (Click for: 510, eGo MEGA, Tanks)

In addition to cartridge design, notches in connection ends of the battery, atomizer casing, and/or holes in atomizer threading also provide airflow for wicking and vapor production. Tight connections reduce airflow, which results in stiff draws and poor wicking. For proper function, and to reduce the possibly of damage to the center connection posts of atomizers and/or batteries, never over- tighten atomizers onto batteries.

To inhale, press battery button just before drawing. Take long, slow draws (about 5 seconds) to allow time for eJuice to wick, reach heating coil, heat, and then vaporize. Short, rapid draws will not produce sufficient vapor or flavor, and may compromise your atomizer.

Keep your atomizer wet at all times by topping the cartridge filler off with eJuice (or refilling tank cartridges) whenever you notice a reduction of vapor and/or flavor (provided it’s not due to a weak battery).

FAILURE TO FOLLOW GUIDELINES can result in a dry atomizer. Dry atomizer symptoms are reduced vapor/flavor, followed by a harsh or burnt taste. A dry atomizer not only produces an unpleasant taste, but encourages formation of burnt solids on the wick and heating coil, reducing atomizer performance and life span. As more solids accumulate, draws become more difficult and performance drops. The formation of solids is somewhat inevitable, but improper or dry wicking significantly speeds this up.

If you feel the need to clean your atomizer, rinse throughly with warm water, blowing out several times, blow remaining water out and allow to dry overnight. Water does not vaporize in this system, and atomizers will not funtion properly until completely dry. A more through cleaning can be done by soaking in pure grain alcohol/Everclear (best) or vodka. PGA is not harmful, dries faster and and dissolves gunk better.

Warranty & Care:

All parts of the electronic cigarette are considered disposable with limited life spans, and will need replacement. The life span of any individual part depends on many factors, and therefore is not always predictable. IN GENERAL, batteries can be expected to last several months (often more), and atomizers can be expected to last several weeks, though with minimal care, they will likely last twice that.

Please remember e-cigarettes are electronics with circuitry, heating elements and microchips, and thereby MUST BE TREATED WITH CARE. Dropping (or severe jarring), careless handling and failure to read and follow guidelines are primary causes of equipment failures.

Because we test batteries and atomizers for proper function before delivery, and we have no control over how customers use their equipment, or compatibility with non-eJuiceMonkeys equipment, there are no express warranties on products. Additionally, there is a maximum 30-day store replacement warranty on all purchases except the following:

  • Standard Resistance Atomizers have a maximum 14-day store replacement policy.
  • Cartomizers & Low Resistant Atomizers have DOA (dead on arrival) store replacement policy only.

We understand there are circumstances that warrant replacement, and that equipment can be defective, and ask that you contact us immediately if you believe this to be the case and we will do everything we can to meet your needs.

Please recognize we reserve the right to refuse a return/exchange if the cause is determined to be user error or negligence; in cases of habitual, unwarranted returns; returning products found to be from an older purchase, or attempting to return non-eJuiceMonkeys purchase.

We cannot accept returns or exchanges on any e-Juices or cartridges irrespective of whether or not they have been used or opened. If you are unhappy with an e-Juice you order, again, please contact us and we will work with you.

Please always feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. We want your experience to be successful and enjoyable, and will do our best to see that it is.

Aligning an eGo MEGA Atomizer and Cartridge

IMPORTANT: Always blow any existing fluid out of new atomizers, then prime atomizer bridge with a drop or two of eJuice. Fill cartridges by dripping eJuice into cartridge filler material until fully saturated. When filling new cartridges, allow time for material to absorb into the liquid. You may push the material down to remove air bubbles & speed absorption (tweezers work well), but make certain you pull the material back out to the edge of cartridge (or slightly beyond) to ensure contact with the bridge & proper wicking. Poor wicking may cause your device to not function properly or may cause atomizer damage.
Properly align cartridge & atomizer as shown – grooved sides of cartridge should be perpendicular to the length of the wire mesh-covered bridge inside the atomizer. A small number of cartridges may have too much filler (densely packed), which can prevent proper wicking. To correct, remove a small amount of filler by cutting lengthwise or widthwise. Blow to remove any loose fibers from filler. (Filler may be reused many times, and may be rinsed and squeeze dried, but eventually it will lose it ability to wick properly.)
